Digital Studio Awards 2009

Dubai, Thursday 5th March
The 5th Annual Digital Studio Awards 2009 were presented at a lavish ceremony at Jumeirah Beach Hotel on Wednesday 4th March 2009.
The 5th Annual Digital Studio Awards were held at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Dubai on Wednesday 4th March, recognizing the leading companies and individuals from the region’s growing broadcast and production sectors. 14 winners were awarded, in categories that covered a number of fields, from individual excellence, to corporate success, and from outstanding service to expertise in equipment.
More than 250 top executives from the Middle East Broadcast & Production Industry gathered to acknowledge the leaders as well as the newcomers who have invested in technology, implemented winning strategies and invested both time and resources to ensure the local industry not only meets international standards but often exceeds them.

Amongst the 250 attendees at the awards were executive representatives from Platinum Sponsors Hitachi and Key Industry Sponsors Dubai Studio City as well as from broadcasters such as Abu Dhabi Media Company and Arab Media Group.
Walid Akawi CEO of ITP Publishing Group said “We are proud to hold the 5th Digital Studio Awards and are delighted with the level of interest and participation that the industry has shown this year. The awards reflect Digital Studio’s standing in the Middle East’s broadcast and production industry and it is our pleasure to give something back. The winners were well deserved and our congratulations go out to them all.”
Highlights of the night included the victory of Qatar based Salam Media Cast for the most coveted award in the industry, Systems Integrator of the Year. The winner was commended by the panel of judges for its outspread reach across the regions and for the numerous projects undertaken in several parts of the Middle East over the past 12 months.
In the hotly contested, Production House of the Year category, Déjà Vu outdid all. Despite the tough competition and the international acclaim attached to the other companies in the shortlist, this smaller production house is gradually making a name for itself as a company that produces work par excellence, bringing together the right team of directors and DoPs for each of its projects.

The evening ended with Egypt based Systems Design being acknowledged with the very special Editor’s Choice Award. This award recognizes outstanding contribution to the industry over the past 12 months. Spearheaded by Ahmed Gamal, this company had taken on several projects for systems integration in the last year for various companies in Egyptian Media City, including Aamal Establishment, FM TV, Asila Playout Center, El-Saeeda, Safa TV and Moga TV.
